We are so fortunate to have a fibre studio at Double J & D Acres. A special thanks to Herb Irwin for helping us turn an old shed into a beautiful fibre studio where we spend much of our time dying, carding and spinning our yarns. It is so nice to have a space specially designed to create Curly horse art in. |
The yarn that we make at Double J & D Acres comes from our own Curly horse and pony fibre which is carded into batts and spun on our wheel. |
We hand dye several types of lambs wool to spin with our horse fibre to create a unique Curly horse fibre yarn in a plethora of colours. We dye Merino, Blue Face Leicester and Corridale wool and then braid the dyed fibres to spin and sell. Fibre Sales |
| After we dye our wool we spin it into a one ply yarn which is then spun together with our one ply horse yarn. It then becomes a beautiful, very unique, 2ply yarn. Our yarn is washed, hung to dry and then used to make fibre arts like our Curly ponies, hats and purses or it's package up into skeins to sell. Fibre Sales |
